MA, then to Pyramid Atlantic Art Center in Silver
Spring, MD, Rhode Island School of Design Fleet Library,
Providence RI, Montserrat College of Art Gallery
in Beverly, MA and will end at Wells College in Aurora,
NY.
Journey and Seasons are
2 of books chosen by curator Janine
Wong to be a part of the Shelter show. Journey (shown
right) is a 48 Page drumleaf bound book, pages are monoprint
on old map with wood and polymer clay covers. 7.5" x
4" x
.5" Both
books relate to transitions in life related to shelter.
Shelter focuses attention on
a universal subject and one of humanity’s most basic needs,
in all its manifestations: the home. The work examines the psychology
of personal space, current issues in the housing market, homelessness,
the mortgage crisis and loss of historic fabric. Shelter contains
the art work of 43 Book Artists from around the country and will
travel to selected cities throughout the United States in 2008.
A 30% commission on sales from the exhibit will benefit a local
housing charity in each city where it is exhibited. Pyramid Atlantic
will be making contributions to Habitat for Humanity.
